Nigeria is the first country in Africa to produce the highest paid blogger. This might not be her but Luvvie Ajayi is one of the most popular African Bloggers.
Luvvie will be in Kenya hosted by the Bloggers Association of Kenya and the Nailab for an evening forum on Friday 6th of March at the Nailab from 5-8 pm.
Luvvie as most of her fans call her, is an award-winning writer and digital strategist who thrives at the intersection of comedy, technology and activism. A twelve-year blogging veteran, she is the voice behind Awesomely Luvvie, covering everything pop culture – from TV, movies and technology to travel, race and life’s random adventures. Her latest blog Awesomely Techie is a resource for entrepreneurs, bloggers and anyone who wants to use technology to make their lives easier.
A self-confessed Jill of all trades, Luvvie is also the Executive Director of The Red Pump Project, a nonprofit that raises awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls using red shoes as a symbol of empowerment.
Luvvie is a columnist for TheGrio, has contributed her writing to XOJane, EBONY, Clutch Magazine and Uptown Magazine, and has been featured by the Chicago Sun-Times, Africa.com, Essence.com, AOL.com, Black Enterprise, The Root and more.
She is an XFINITY Comcast Black Innovator and was winner of the 2012 Women’s Media Center Social Media Award, a 30 under 30 JET Magazine honoree. Luvvie is one of Babble’s 25 Bloggers Changing the World.
Join us on 6th March as we engage Luvvie on her journey in Blogging, her experiences and challenges juggling a career in writing and what advice she has for the many female bloggers and young women in Kenya seeking to make their careers on the internet.
