The inaugural BAKE Blog Awards were a surprise, even to us, in terms of the immense interest it generated and the level of participation through blog submissions and voting. The awards also served as a discovery conduits for blogs, a fact that we were very proud of. 300 blogs were submitted and an amazing 10,000 people voted for their favourite blogs.
Since then, we have observed with interest various blogs come up. Some corporates, not keen to be left behind, have also jumped on the blogging bandwagon.
Therefore, it is with great pride and enthusiasm that we announce the BAKE Kenyan Blog Awards 2013. With these awards, we intend to reward and recognize exceptional bloggers in their respective fields and to promote online content creation in Kenya.
We have made a few changes to the awards as follows:
- Added ‘Lifestyle/Entertainment’, ‘Blog of the Year’ & ‘Travel Blog’ among the categories after removing the two twitter categories i.e. ‘Best Individual Tweep’ & ‘Best Corporate Tweep’.
- Renamed the ‘General’ category to ‘Topical’.
- Added the word ‘Kenyan’ to the awards to give it a more national feel.
